It’s a man’s world but check the girl…. Since the birth of hip-hop, we as listeners had to endure the millions of lists that consist of who the greatest rapper of all time. And of course, 99% of the list is full of men. But not this time. Ladies first. This is the Top 25 Greatest Female Rapper of All- Time…So Far. Just so you know, this list isn’t based on sales or popularity. We really don’t care about their ghostwriter. That’s because you can have a ghostwriter and if you don’t have the charisma to deliver those lines, it’s a fail. This list is based on Charisma, delivery, style, and uniqueness. And yes, there are some new girls that you think might belong on this list, but we feel they haven’t really proved themselves yet.

So here is the Top 5 Greatest Female Rappers of All-Time.. So far and why:

  1. Da Brat

Da Brat tat tat tat is number one on our list for so many reasons. She can outrap any man or woman. Facts. She can give it to you fast or she can give it you nice and slow. Brat is underestimated because she seems like one of the homeboys and fickle hip-hop fans ignore her because her breast isn’t out. (sorry not sorry) But remember that Brat was the first female rapper to ever sell a million records. (No streams or payola needed)

2. Lil Kim

Kimberly Jones is arguably one of the greatest icon to ever grace the music industry. Look at today’s female rapper. They studied Ms. Jones. She’s the blueprint.  Hardcore is one of the best debuts of a new artist. You think Lil Kim can’t hold her own amongst her male counterparts? Please.  No matter where you at, when her verse on ‘Quiet Storm’ or ‘All About the Benjamins’ comes on, everyone stops and recites every line like the pledge of allegiance. The Notorious K.I.M. can spit the raunchiest line or she can bring you in to her world with her storytelling. Mafialand and Aunt Dot are proof of that.

3. Boss

Boss was one of the original hip-hop gangsta. Representing Detroit, the music industry was shocked that Ms. Laws was spitting as hard as Spice 1. I mean she had storytelling down to a science. And her aggressive demeanor made you believe and follow every word. Her downfall was she was a middle-class citizen pretending to be from the hood. In today’s hip-hop, that’s ok. The fans overlook it. But early 90s hip-hop, you had to live the life you rapped about. And Boss didn’t.

4. Eve

Before she was a Billionaire’s wife, Eve was one of the illest female rappers to grace the stage. The First Lady of Ruff Ryders really held her own amongst the legend that is DMX. What makes Eve stands out is that she can jump into any genre of music and adapt her flow to what is needed. When she hit the scene, she made sure that the other girls stepped their cookies up. Her verse on ‘Hot Boyz remix’ proves it. And again on ‘Road Dawgs’, off the Backstage soundtrack. E-V-E is truly not to be F with.

5. Shawnna

Chicago-bred Shawnna made a splash in early 2000s with hits like ‘Getting some Head’. However, it’s her freestyles and flows on quite a few underground mixtape DVDs, that she is in the top 5. Like the four above her, Shawnna can switch it up in a heartbeat. She can be aggressive and demanding. Or she can lure you in with her sex appeal and then bite your head off. The perfect example of this is ‘Can’t Do it Like Me’. Shawnna can ride the beat as good as your favorite rapper. And I got 5 on her beating your favorite battle rapper. Yes, she’s that good.
